Time to Act is Now: In 2015, the GBCCC facilitated for more than 300 Buddhist leaders and teachers from 36 countries, as well as more than 1500 (and counting) Dharma practitioners to sign The Time to Act is Now: A Buddhist Declaration on Climate Change, co-authored by David Loy, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi and John Stanley. In 2009, it was endorsed by such luminaries as the Dalai Lama, Karmapa and Thich Nhat Hanh, Sixty-five Dharma teachers & over 5000 other Buddhists.
We are delighted that the Time to Act is Now has received enhanced global support in 2015, from a diverse number of Buddhist leaders and teachers representing the main schools of Buddhism from 37 countries. Very few Buddhist statements have such global support.
The Buddhist Statement on Climate Change to World Leaders was written by the GBCCC in October 2015 and it has been endorsed by: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, as well as Supreme Heads of Buddhism in Bangladesh, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Secretary General of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), President of the Buddhist Association of the USA, President of the UBF (l’Union Bouddhiste de France) and Her Royal Highness Princess Ashi Kesang Wangmo Wangchuk of Bhutan.
